Lizzie Armitstead fell short in her quest for an Olympic medal as she admitted feeling 'exhausted' following the row over her three missed drugs tests.
The 27-year-old Brit finished fifth in the women's road race in Rio today and was never really in contention for a top three finish after struggling to keep up with the leaders through the tough climbs.
Speaking after the race she said she was proud of her efforts and was keen to spend time with her family after a gruelling past few days both physically and mentally.

The 27-year-old, pictured during the race, finished fifth after struggling to keep up on gruelling climbs through the tropical mountain course
As reigning World, Commonwealth and British National road race champion she was one of the favourites to win but ended up 20 seconds behind Dutch winner Anna van der Breggen.
But the race itself was marred by a horror crash when Annemiek van Vleuten, also Dutch, went head over her handlebars while leading the race towards the end.
She was coming round a tight right-hand turn on the tropical mountain course when the bike spiked upwards and she was sent flying over the side of the road.
It is understood she was not seriously hurt but the accident caused quite a stir among her fellow riders and spectators.
The mountain climbs proved Armitstead's undoing, although she said she had been working on that aspect of her cycling.
